Tim Linerud.

The photo shows the car racing at the famous corkscrew at Lagua Seca. His comments on the car:
-I campaigned the car for two years, but it's currently in VW heaven. The original builder was Tim Taylor of Sac Ca. and the SCCA log books go back to1983.
-Modifications, or particulars. -Sachs 4 puck racing clutch. Quaffe LSD, Melling oil pump, baffled oil pan, balanced and blue-printed bottom end, VDO guages, Porterfield Cool Carbon R-4 front pads, stainless brake lines, etc. As far as wins, none, but I placed in the top 10 each year, 93 and 94, in San Francisco Region SCCA.
-I wrote off that chassis @ Turn 10 © Laguna Seca, the same weekend as the O.J. Simpson White Bronco chase. I just wish I could forget that weekend.
-I'm planning on building a 84 Rabbit Convertible with the salvagable parts from the Scirocco.

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada -1985, I also add a 16 valve antenna, and tinted the windows and rear lights. Neuspeed plate frame, blue pilot fogs lights, between a german plate. Also, a 4 inch bro-speed. It look crazy big.

Charlotte, NC This is an 85. It has a VW g-grind cam, K&N air filter. TT exhaust 2.5 inch. 83 GTI manifold, fifth gear conv., lowered front end 1.25 inches.

I have put a G-grind, K&N filter, an older style more easier flowing exhaust, polyurethane front motor mount bushing, Auto Tech lower stress bar, short shift kit, extra gauges in place of the ash tray, Auto Tech cat back exhaust, Koni racing springs and shocks, Yokohama a509's. I found in a junkyard 3 yrs ago, in Toledo Ohio, with 100,001 miles on the clock, doors came from Florida, fenders and hood are new from VW. It's the only 1984 VW in Ohio with air conditioning that works. Suspension is Sachs with Autotech springs, front top and bottom, and rear stressbars. stock anti-roll bars (bigger ones (roll bars) made it impossible when it rained). Completely rebuilt motor with European parts, 85 GTI throttle body. Sachs 210 clutch. Short shift kit. All Mobile One synthetic lubricants used, stored winters, 30,000 miles since everything was rebuilt. Also Autotech header and exhaust .Bought a 97 GTI VR6 in January, great car, but it has no character. Wife says Scirocco has to go, insurance is a bit pricey for the two. I can say that it is the best-looking Scirocco You can find in Estonia. At first it had a 1.8L (90hp) carburetor motor. I changed it to a 1.8L injection motor (112hp). Then I added 15" good-looking alloys, third braking light into rear spoiler (it really looks great - especially at night!), white leather driving wheel, new exhaust pipe end... james@online.ee

1984 Scirocco- Car has been completely rebuilt and restored to better than new over a 5 year period. Improvements include techtonics 2.0 liter engine, hydralic cylinder head with 268 cam. Ported and polished intake manifold with Neuspeed throttle body and K&N air filter. Nuespeed 8mm spark plug wires. Aluminum oil pan with baffle, heavy duty motor mounts. Smokinn This photo isn't a very good shot of my 83 Scirocco. A friend of mine gave me this car and I really didn't have to do much to it.
