Charles My Scirocco was originally a '79 1.5L. GL.

Today it has a 1.8L 16V (KR) engine. The guy who sold it to me said that the engine has a sharper camshaft but I cannot verify that. I think I have 150 Hp and that's based on the fact that am a little bit faster than a ford RS2000. My ignition came from an Audi 80 from +/-1982 (unlimited r/min.) Of course I had to rebuild the brakes too and I fitted Audi GT Coupe air cooled disks in the front and Golf GTi 16V disks on the rear. The brake master cylinder was taken from a Golf GTi. But i'm not satisfied yet with this brakes. Ever drove a Renault Megane and hit the brakes? Now that's what i called BRAKES! and that inmediatly all there is good to say about the renault megane...:) The exhaust pipe is home made. The telescope that keeps the engine hood open I took from the trunk of a Ford Escort.
The spoilers are from a German tuner called Rieger and this is the Rieger GTS evolution version. there is a Rieger GTO version to be seen on the internet. The grille spoiler, above the head lights, I made that myself because an international search for it failed. And I really wanted it so badly so I made it out of 2 grille spoilers of a Golf. I was very lucky that there where 2 VW Golfs crashed in my district so i had to tow them away and picked the pieces out of the trash. It tooks some spare time but i had my own designed grille spoiler ;) After much hours of work, because the polyester set didn't fit at all, thanks for that Mr. Rieger, I painted the car in HellRott from BMW. After fitting the Eibach suspension and the 15" wheels I finally hit the road. Now I'm busy with the inside of the car. I already installed two K$Bön(Jig P700 seats and now I'm preparing a Scirocco type 2 dash board and tunnel. So that's for so far the 16V.
In the photos you can see also a second Scirocco. That's my first car and I bought it in '87, restyled it in '89 and sold it in '95. It's a 1600 GT with an Audi 100 carburator and Bilstein suspension. The spoilers are from Zender (front) and Kamei (skirts). The rear spoilers are from Zender (on top) and Rieger. On the 5th of September 96, this scirocco crashed by hitting a tree real hard. I was a little bit sad that day. The guy who bought the car had the car painted yellow recently and spent a lot of money into it. He was driving the car real fast like nothing could ever happen to him. Then he made a little mistake on a sunny day and that was it. Anyway, if I'm lucky I have a lot of spare parts for my own car. hehe:)
The inside adjustable mirrors are from a scirocco GTI, the corrado fog and turn lights, the wooden steering wheel from Selm and the power windows from mitsubishi electrics.

John Fulmer This is my baby. 1980 Scirocco S.These picture was taking during the summer of 95. I painted the car myself in my friend's garage. (I had help with the spraying and buffing).

It's a 81 GTi and I made a total renovation of the car back in 1991. It is Mars red and the body is almost completely original. The engine is 1600 cc, ported and polished and bench flowed head and three angle valves. The intake and headers are matched to the head. The fuel injection is modified with a Neuspeed throttlebody and an adjustable pressure valve. A k&N filter is also fitted. The gear box is original 5 speed and I fitted a home-made short shift kit. The exhaust system is a full flow with 2.5 inch diameter all the way. I use a 210 mm clutch and flywheel (lightened and balanced) from a 16V. All the engine mountsand bushings are urathane. The shocks are Jamex Raceline fully height adjustable. The front discs are drilled and I use rear discs from a Golf 16V. The wheels are Compomotive 7 x 16 and the tires are Michelin 195\45\16. This green machine is a 1979 MK1. Purchased back in August of 89, I have been continually upgrading it. The only things left I have to upgrade and that are on the list are the engine, transimission and brakes. It currently has the original 1600cc motor in it and I dont think it will last much longer.
Starting from the ground up, the wheels are 17x7.5 ATS type 10 with a 35mm offset. Tires are the Yokohama A510 in a 205/40/17VR. Suspension is tightened up with Koni sport adjustables at all 4 corners with Suspension Techniques springs. When I replaced the stock springs with the ST's, it didnt lower the car so much so the front was lowered an additional .75-1.0 inches. The rear was lowered via the spring perch on the shock itself. Dont foget to shave the rear fender lip if you dont want to rub with 7.5" wheels. Both front and rear Neuspeed swaybars reside on the car. I also have the top and bottom stress bars and a rear triangulated bar, all of them by Neuspeed. Original whimpy strut bearings replaced with updated poly units.
Exterior mods include shaved rear parking lights and additional Euro turn signals on the fenders. Euro bumpers take the place of the much heavier US units. Airdam is by Kamei. Both turnsignals and taillights are new. Headlights are still stock halogen, although I have put in relays for them, I plan on getting some H1/H4 headlights in the future.
As you can see, the car doesnt have its original silver metallic color. I undertook the job or repainting it myself, well actually I did everything, I mean everything, on the car except shooting the paint and buffing it. I completely dissasembled it, sanding it, did the bodywork, shot the primer and sanded it, all in preparation for painting. The color is a custom color, but is is quite similar to Porsche Signal Green. Under flourescent light, it glows with a more yellow tint to it. I found the color on a PPG #16 acrylic laquer can if you are interested. Sprayed with 4 coats of the Sikkens paint and 3 coats of clear.
The interior has pretty much remained the same. Dark chocolate and Fawn colored seats with black carpet and black panels, it is one of the best stock interiors I have seen. Although it isnt an S-model, I do have the S-model seats. The only mods I have included in the interior is the addition of a voltmeter, a momo-airleather steering wheel, zebrano super atomic shift knob and pedal covers. Oh, I also changed out the stock stop light bulbs with 20 watt units. I also upgraded the alternator to 90amp as well. Oh, I also put in a Gillet exhaust.
