Here's the symptoms: The idle on my 84 8v varies dependent on the temp. of the car. When I first start it up, the idle is very low and the whole car shudders (750 rpms). But after the car has run awhile, the idle creeps up to 1000 rpms and is smooth. I've checked timing and gaps and replaced the temp. switch but to no avail. Any suggestions guys/gals? dravix@juno.com (1-10-97)
NEWhave a 83 Rabbit Gti ,but got creative and took a 16V from an 86 scirocco, and am having troubles wiring the motor . i am using the under hoood harnes and the computers from the scirocco. what i need preferibly is a pic of the engine compartment VW83GTI16V@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWI'm going on 18, and considering getting a Scirrioco. I've already gotten many positive E-mails from 'Rocco fans, but as all cars from the 70's and 80's these cars are getting on in their years, but they are also VWs. My question is, how much matinence do these cars require. Admidityly it depends on the previous owner, so I've eyed the classifieds on here for quite sometime, and saved my pennies, so tell me how many more pennies should I be saving for repair costs? NEWI have a 1980 VW Scirocco with a few problems, and could use you guys help. 1. I have to put gas in very slowly as if the line leading to the tank is stopped up some, additionally, if I fill the tank up gas leaks (rather rapidly) out from under the car, is this some overflow valve or a leak of some sort. 2. Additionally, electrical problems: the gas gauge, water temp gauge and the tachometer work intermitently; sometimes when I start the car, the battery light will comes on and stays on, when this happens none of the above gauges work...please help. morisey@nervm.nerdc.ufl.edu (1-10-97)
NEWhey, i love sciroccos just like you do, and i have rather large plans for my scirocco 16v. the electronics are shot in the car currently, and my intention is to design my own ignition system/engine control system for the car myself! the only thing stopping me is i have no basis to work on (i.e.: the original programming in the ke-jetronic system like timing advance maps, the methods the computer uses for varying fuel mixture, etc). basically, i'm looking for any/all technical information available on the scirocco's ke-jetronic (knock sensor) ignition system, right down to schematics if possible. if you have any idea how i can get anything even close to the info i'm looking for, please let me know. thanks in advance for your help Allyn Malventano allyn@gate.net (1-10-97)
NEWIgor from Russia, I have Scirocco 1,8; 78. I am tired to search for spare parts and reasons of the next breakage. I think easier to purchase the car in good condition. Any information of rather sold German automobiles is interesting to me. Only in Europe, and is not so expensive. Excuse me everyone, who has not received the answer to the letter sent to the address: estom@online.ru. My new mailbox: estom@mail.sts.ru (1-10-97)
NEWI own an 84 VW Wolfsburg Scirocco w/ a 1.8 L mech head engine. My car has an LCD oil temp gauge located in the Speed/tach area of the dash. On a hot summer day my oil temp reads between 225-240 degrees. On an average day between 70-80 degrees my temp reads between 220-230. Durring the winter months (20-40 degrees) it averages a tempature of 200-210. I've read articals in European Car magazine that the average oil tempature for my car is somwhere around 235 dregrees. They say VW engineered my car to run HOT to cut back on the emissions. I've tried everything from a cooler fan switch, thermostate, and synthetic oils. However after 3000 miles the oil has not burned off and has bearly changed in color. Other eight valve VW's I've been in only show a reading of 180 while crusing the highway. Help me put my mind to rest. Does anyone elses 1.8L mech. head 8v 84 Scirocco produce this much heat? I've driven the car like this for two years now, and it dosent seem to effect it. Yes, I have tested the guage. You can reach me at Schowae@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWHi i am a current owner of a 1992 vw GTI 16v. Its my second VW and I love it. I am currently interested in bying a 1980 US spec scirocco. The car has 220,000 miles on it and is in great shape. My question is what are the things to look out for and are there any trouble spots i should watch for. The asking price is only 200$ but i dont want to buy the car and have bigger problems than i hoped to have.I plan on fixing the car up and modifying it some. Any info on this year scirocco would be appreciated greatly. What is you opinion on this year car. EDemeo@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWI have a few problems with my 82 roc. First when you start the car it would rev to 2000rpms and then die. The only way to keep it from completly stalling was to gas it hard and then let off. You have to do this for about 10 min until the engine would warm up, then it would run fine. Suddenly it won't even do this anymore. It will "click" and nothing. Any suggestions? JDobieG@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWHidy Ho Scirocco enthusiasts! I own a '87 Scirocco 16V and it has come to that point in its life where it needs a new set of shocks in the front (I will most likely change the rear as well). I'm abit torn about what to put on the ole gal. I don't really race her so I don't think I need top end racing shocks but do want tight handling. I will also be changing my tires fairly soon 185/60R14's (sticking to stock rims- money is tight right now!). Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences (good or bad) with different brands of shocks or tires that you can share with me? I would appreciate any info on this. Thanx, Kosta. nicolaou@axionet.com (1-10-97)

NEWhello my name is gordon ,from vancouver bc canada i am writing in regards to the "techtonics fuel enrichment module" i was wondering if you could give me a price quote on this unit in canadian funds excluding shipping & handling charges and also, could you give me some info on it as well. i own a 1987 vw scirocco 16V swapped w/ a 2.0l engine block included w/ schrick 260 camshafts techtonics downpipe non -catalyst system,to a sebring exhuast. the head has been ported & polished ,k&n air filter etc... what i want to know is will this module give proven results and will it be applicable to my car from the way it has been tricked up. also i will be getting nology sparkplug wires included with their new ignition coil wich replaces the stock one and a supersprint header . will the set up cause problems and has it been dyno tested before w/ 2.0 litre 16V scirocco's? your response would be much appreciated, thank you, gordon astroboy@direct.ca (1-10-97)
NEWHi: Calling all 16v Aftermarket/Upgrade geniuses: I have an '88 16v which I am Tuning here and there. Main Upgrades to date: New tip-to-tail Exhaust (no cat- shush!) with Leistritz muffler -- I know, I should have sprung for a Borla, or similar (anyone interested in a good buy or swap + $, let me know !); K&N Filter; Neuspeed Plug Wires; new Bosch Coil & Platinum plugs; Neuspeed Upper Stress bar; Polyurethane Bushings up front; Heavy duty VW motor mounts on trans; etc. The biggest addition was a New Dimensions Softsport Suspension kit with Boge ProGas Struts/Shocks, all the way around. Not cheap, but works as advertised.... except, when pushing it a little through corners -- on or off throttle, the car seems unbalanced. The Front's sticking like glue, but I get the feeling the rear end wants to pass me -- or at least catch up! I know this is not an uncommon problem with alot of stock VW's, but I figured the kit would take care of it. I wondering if what I need is a REAR ANTI-SWAY BAR, tire psi adjustments (usually run 34 front, 32 rear on Potenza 930's, 195/60's on the stock alloy rims), or just need to live with the sensation Thing basically runs great, much stronger than the '86 I had, but not feeliing totally comfortable w/ the xtra juice is....well.... uncomfortable. Especially after the $$$ outlay. ANY FEEDBACK APPRECIATED !!! Thanks, elvis @ aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWHelp, anyone! Two months ago, I took out the distributor assembly of the scirocco (1987 16V U.S.Specs) to glue the broken plastic connector that has three wires running to it going into the distributor housing where it connects to a magnetic thingy (now, only a wanna-be-mechanic can describe it that way!!!) After putting it back, the car idled roughly and had no power at all. I re-checked everything, including the timing which I could not set properly (it had to be put to the extreme counterclockwise position for the strongest seat of the pants dyno!). Frustration set in (after a week!) and I soon found myself tinkering with the fuel distributor (first adjusting the idle mixture screw then taking out and checking the fuel distributor plunger after the idle mixture screw did not help). Now, the car would not even start although it tries to, meaning it starts for a few seconds then dies. Some things I noticed: 1) The air plate gets stuck in the down position and is hard to pull up, i.e, it's like the plunger is pushing it down hard. 2) It looks like fuel injector #3 (from the left as you look at the engine from the front) is not delivering any fuel at all as everytime I unscrew the lines from the distributor block, only the other three lines going to their respective injectors spurt out fuel. I certainly appreciate any help or suggestion you can extend me as I'm stuck (again!) overseas with no ride ....Thanks! Gary nah1rep2@nah10.med.navy.mil (1-10-97)
NEWI have 82 scirocco turbo intercooled and I want more horsepower , i'm wondering if I can upgrade the 8 valves to a 16 valves; if i can , would you give some advice how to do it. thanks Alejandro from Colombia. rodrigoa@openway.com.co (1-10-97)
NEWHi fellow Scirocco nuts!! My name is John and I'd appreciate any feedback on different aftermarket suspension upgrades you might have tried as I have an '87 16V with 122,000 miles on it (Minnesota- Land of 10 Zillion potholes) and it needs some help soon. Eibach, Neuspeed springs? Koni, Spax inserts etc.... Can you buy packages complete? Any special tips on installing them or hardware I should buy that's not provided with spring/strut kits? And one final question; has anyone tried or can you even bolt on a supercharger from a G60 engine to a 1.8 16v? Just curious. Also: Bosch Platinum plugs. Have you ever had any problems with them? Are you running 16V engines in your cars? The reason I ask is I have a '87 16V'er with about 122,000 miles on it, and I've tried two sets of the plugs and had 3 defective ones. I don't know if the compresssion has something to do with it or not, but the actual platinum pin that is centered in the ceramic tip has actually broken somewhere in the plug and fused/bounced against the metal angle part (I can't think of the term for it for some reason) - the piece you bend in or out for correct gapping. The first set I bought and this happened (only one bad one out of four) I thought it was a fluke, then it happened to two out of four on the second set I bought after nobody could get the 3-pronged plug Bosch makes. Just curious if you've heard anything.... Thanks mucho everyone!!! JDPROMDATE@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEW86 16V engine. Runs great. Full of power, no indications of engine problems. During last servicing, changed oil, amount drained looked too small. Upon further investigation found I have quite a bit of oil in the cooling system. I have not yet done a compression check, but none of the other signs of a head gasket or cracked head/block problem are present. The engine only has about 50K on it, but it did sit idle for about 3 years. It has been running great for the last 2 years. Any suggestion on where I should start looking would be very much appreciated. kjuul@widomaker.com (1-10-97)
NEWI have just aquired a 1987 16v 5-speed Scirocco and replaced the shift bushings, the old ones were worn out. After replacing the bushings, in order to shift it into 1st gear, I must depress the shift lever down as though I were going to shift into Reverse before I can get it into 1st. I don't believe this is right. Can any one else help? Is there some other adjustment somewhere that needs to be done so that 1st gear shifts as all other forward gears? Not depressing the lever down first. Also need an owners manual.. Can anyone help? Thanks. email lopez@sdsc.edu (1-10-97)
NEWHi. I'm presently looking for a car and came across a great deal on an '89 Scirocco with only 87,000 km (approx. 55,000 miles for you Americans). I'm just wondering if anyone has any hints about what I should check out or look for before deciding whether to buy or not. It seems like it's in great condition and I've seen all the maintenance history. Thanks. jmilley@direct.ca Jaegen Milley (1-10-97)
NEWI've got an 85 scriocco with an RD engine. I am wanting to put a knock sensor ignition on it, but am not sure how. I have the brain, throttle switches and knock sensor, I think all I need is the distributor. If you have a wiring diagram for the swap form normal to knock sensor, I would appreciate it. speed_racer@ou.edu (1-10-97)
NEWHey there, just recently bought a 88 16v in generally great shape. There are two things that I really want to get some help with. First off, the car will vibrate at spec idle, primarily the interior that is the most annoying. I know that motor mounts could cause this, but before I undertake that repair, I would like to know how you can tell if a mount is bad. What should I look for? Any tricks? Secondly, I get some real torque steering problems when I really get on it. I imagine that comes from the difference in length of the suspension arms (dont know the proper lingo) on both sides up front. How can I fix that, can I fix that? HELP Zootallrs@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWCan anybody help or give me some usefull advice? I recently bought a 4 speed 1.6 84' sirocco cl, it has developed idleing problems, namely it won't idle when it get's warmed up. I have been told by people that it's more then likely the vacum piping on the carb, is this true? I will probably replace the lot anyway but would be greatfull for any advice or opinions on the matter. Thanks. T.S.Wilkins@x400.icl.co.uk (1-10-97)
NEWI recently purchased a 1979 scirocco s with approx. 70k orig. Miles. Unfortunatly shortly after purchasing it it developed a bad case if indigestion. I changed the fuel filter and installed a new pump because the old one was very noisy. After draining the old filter i found rust particles. Still once the car warmed up (approx. 20 minutes) this hesitation would reappear. This problem would only show it self under load. We finally changed the fuel distributor and the problem is now gone. The source was rust is the gas tank which had contaminated the entire system. Nothing like taking the long way to the point....do you know of any place where i can get an aftermarket replacement tank? Vw wants $450.00 for a new one and i feel that any used one could have the same problem. Please ask around. Thanks mike frostking@worldnet.att.net (1-10-97)
NEWHey everybody. My question is simple. I own an 86 Scirocco 16V, without cruise control. Is is possible to install a cruise control system in this vehicle? I've seen the components of these systems. They don't seem all that complicated or involved. If anyone has an opinion or a definite answer, please let me know. Thanks. And take good care of your babies! Al McNeill Vwman86@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEW86 Scirocco hesitates on acceleration. So far we've replaced the fuel filter and started to use premium fuel with the highest octane rating. The fuel pump is operating properly as well as the fuses and relays. The timing was adjusted with a recent tune up. Also the injectors are clean. We replaced a ruptured hose located on top of the engine runnig to a "T" with another hose. That didn't help either. anyone have any suggestions as to what to do? please email us ... visdis@slip.net (1-10-97)
NEWHi, I have a 80,83, and in my 80 rocco when i turn on my lights my battery light glows lightly. I was wondering if any one else has this problem. I have checked the battery, it is fine as well as the altenator. Also in my 83 mex vw's rocco the battery light just stays on constantly Alternator was tested and fine, bran-new battery. Wondering if any body knows what would cause either of these Twisted Glowing Battery Light Problems!!! MexVWer@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWHello everyone, I own a 86 Scirocco 16v and was wondering if you can help me with some problems. 1). I have a slight acceleration problem that I have began to notice over the last six months. The car will accelerate slowly than at around 4000 rpm I will notice a large increase in acceleration. Someone once told me to disconnect the O2 sensor wire and this would help? 2). I have an exhaust leak comming from this spring thing that connects to the maifold. Does this leak cause a large decrease in preformance and is thier an easy fix (cheap)?. 3). The odometer stopped working and the book does not say how to fix it has anyone had any experience with this? Otherwise the car is great. Any suggestion and comments would be greatly appreciated. I can be emailed at captianbr@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWI've got a 1988 16v with 115,000 miles on it. Overall, it runs well. I've got two problems though. First, when I hit around 3000 rpm, there is a rattle under the car. I have had the exhaust hangers checked out.. with one replaced, but the sound persists. I was told my anti-sway bar was hitting the downpipe. I removed the bar to see.. . and the noise is still there. Should I have another mechanic check the exhaust? Any other ideas about where this noise could be coming from? I can really feel it vibrating up into the floor if I am cruising at a steady 3000 rpm. Also, I have a small starting problem. It is fine when its cool or cold out. The main problem is when the car has been sitting in a hot parking lot all day, it takes a little cranking to get the engine to crank over. Once I have driven it around, it will restart much quicker. I only have this problem with warm starting. The engine starts immediately in cool weather. Any suggestions would be appreciated. - Bryan ZQHM93A@prodigy.com (1-10-97)
NEWWhile replacing the heater blower motor on my friend's '85, we forgot one vaccum hose that we think connects to the fresh-air baffle. At this point, we don't know where it really connects and can't find a good reference manual at the library. Questions: (1) Can you suggest a good repair manual for an 85? (2) Can you help walk us through the process of reconnecting the hose? Thanks. dpallen@us.oracle.com (1-10-97)
NEWHi, im Adam S from connecticut and about 3 months ago I bought an '86 Scirroco 8v from a girl for $500 after some work, it runs great, but I need some suggestions on what I can do to boost its performance without draining my wallet. Any suggestions are helpfull, talk to you all soon Fiafly@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWFriends: My Scirocco has served me very well since 1988 and has about 200,000 miles on it (I can't be exact since the odometer quit about two years ago but works now and then). The original exhaust system finally failed last month and the muffler began to make noise. What a car. However, there are gremlins at work in the electrical system. The windshield wipers wont quit so long as the relay is in the relay panel. That makes driving in rain difficult as I must reach down and push the relay in or out to change the wipers. And the horn just decided to quit, after working mostly on, sometimes off. I've checked the switches for both, and replaced the wiper switch. The fan motor also quit working so I rerouted the wiring to the cigar lighter, and now it works. Trying to fix this problem I've accumulated a bunch of relays (which are for sale, by the way), but nothing has changed. Probably the most annoying problem though is that the oil pressure warning light and buzzer alarms when the car is warmed up and running at between about 2100 and 2300 rpm. I've replaced the oil pump, the sending units with no change. After doing that and having the alarm come on, I got out of the car and disconnected both temp and pressure sending units and the alarm still came on. What to do? I disconnected the instruments but that disabled the voltage regulator and the battery ran down, so that wont work. I may do surgery and remove the connector pins to the oil light, but only as a last resort. If anyone knows the correct relay numbers and their positions in the panel for an '82 I'd like to know it. And if anyone can help with the other problems, I'd be most appreciative. I just drove this car from Virginia to Florida and it ran just great except for the oil pressure buzzer. Regards, John A. Kelly/McLean Virginia OCEANRADIO@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWI am near completion of a body make over for my 82 Scirocco (Don't laugh, the only thing 82 on the car is the body) I'm looking for a good source of rubber parts. I need all the rubber parts for both doors (to include the weather strip mounted to the body at the top of the door). I also need the roof mounted rain rails and misc other items. ALL RESPONSES ARE WELCOME. If you are considering an engine swap into an 82, drop me a note. I have a complete 86 drive train (engine, trans, half shafts). A couple of tricks but not a difficult swap. I also upgraded the electrics and installed a round AC compressor at the same time. hoopere@midmonet.net (1-10-97)
NEWI am having a problem finding a front window seal. they are too exspensive does anyone have spare good one for a 86 Karman body. NEWI had posted a question earlier re: charging problems and had a great resopnce, Thankyou. Now I have another question, I've replaced the alt., checked all the wiring, did all the grounding checks, and I still don't seem to charging. The question is if I disconnect the ground from the battery when the car is running, will it, should it, run off the altanator? If so any other suggestions because its not. I'd be happy to call someone to talk about this over the phone. I'm at wits end and am ready to trash it. (Not really but thats how I feel) Any help would be appreciated Kevin kevinja@ssimicro.com (1-10-97)
NEWi am trying to troubleshoot the cold start on my '88 16V. i've hooked up 12V to the 5th injector, and its sprays fuel OK. next, i tried to check the thermo-time switch. first i wanted to make sure the wiring was OK. The green wire with white stripe (according to the Bentley manual) shows it going straight from the 5th injector to the thermo-switch. however, when i check with my meter, i get 320k ohms ? this is from one end of the wire to the other end. of course i can't see where exactly the wire goes. Could someone check theirs before i go and order a new thermoswitch ? thanks! hoovere@pa.net (1-10-97)
NEWI have a 1988 Scirooco Slegato (identicle to the one in the photo section of THE SCIROCCO. I'd like to give the headlights a bit more of an aero look. Does anyone know of a headlight cover that might be suitable? gflaaten@aol.com (1-10-97)
NEWHy, I just got a 1986 Scirocco that had some major problems. When i got the car the head was of the block. I wa tol that it had overheated and simply blew a head gasket. Simple fix, OK. Well, I got a head gasket kit, did a visual inspection on the head and bolted it back on the block. After a quick drive around the block did a chec of all the systems. Oil in the water a water in the oil. The engine had a mechanical hed so i got a remanufactured hydrolic head and put it on the car. After a day of driving did a check of the systems and still had the same problems. Sounds like a nightmar hugh. I said thats it. Pulled the engine and did a complete overhaul. had the new head retested, took the blck in had it checked and boored 20 over using a torque plate, new pistons, had the rods rebuilt and had the crank balanced and polished. I also replaced the radiator, all the hoses, belts and the clutch and pressure plate. I have about $2k in the car including the purchase price. The body is straight the paint is good and the interior is clean. The engine runs great, will rev to 7k no problem but realy only gets into the power at about 4500 rpm's. I'm soundin a little long winded. I have never driven a Scirocco before I got this car and it is a blast to drive. What do you think. ledhouse@pacbell.net (1-10-97)

NEWOnce upon a time I had a car that ran fine...now when I start up my 84' 8v it idles with fluctuation and the whole car really vibrates. But after the car has warmed up it idles fine with no vibrations. I'm thinking thermo-switch or idle stabilizer. How would I test these or what else could it be. Much obliged. NEWI have been having a problem with my '88 Scirocco 16V for about a year now. I get a ticking noise between about 2900 and 4000rpm. It only occurs when my foot is depressing the acclerator pedal no matter how lightly I press it. Previous advice has been to check the oil pressure and the hydraulic lifters. The oil pressure checks out and I replaced all 16 lifters even though I only found two to be bad. My most recent theory is that the knock sensor system is bad. The rpm-dependent timing advance and the vacuum advance check out. The impedence value of the knock sensor is correct. I tried retreiving the fault codes with an LED test light but it doesn't react in any of the ways my Bentley manual says that it should. It lights up even with the ignition off and stays lit with the ignition on. According to the manual it should not light up with the ignition off and should turn on with the ignition on but not stay lit after the engine is started. I know that the knock sensor system is working at least partially because when I disconnect the knock sensor the engine runs very poorly. Any help will be greatly appreciated. toast@execpc.com (1-10-97)

NEWHi there. I am a previouse owner of a 1981 scirocco (wolfsberg ed.) 1.6L. It gave me alot of trouble when I first bought it, but once I fixed it all, I loved it to death. I ended up selling it because my parents wanted me to have a car that had a better name (toyota tercel), but I miss my scirocco and am thinking about buying one again. I saw a couple of really nice ones at the dealers, they were 1989 and 86 scirocco II's. I live in B.C. and they were both going for somewhere around 9000.(too much I think). Do you know how I can get some info on which scirocco year was best? I just don't know enough about scirocco's to be able to make a good investment. I really would like the extra 16V pep as well. gellnba@silk.net (1-10-97)

NEWI'm looking for some hints as to the mounting of a 16V front sway bar on an A1 chassis that did not originally come equipped with a sway bar.. The bar ends specifically as the center portion of the bar is pretty self explaining. Any hints to the stock mounting from a Scirocco enthusiast will greatly help out the A1 enthusiast :-) i.e. top of "A" arm, bottom of "A" arm, fasteners, positioning, .... Thanks. NEWAfter recently blowing a coolant hose on my '87 16v Scirroco, my car will hardly run anymore. At first I thought it was water in the distributer as the car would run realy rough and perk up after 4000rpm. After cleaning out the distributor, my buddy (loser) put the spark plugs back in the wrong firing order....BANG!! That had to be the loudest back fire I ever heard. After redoing the connections myself this time and punching my friend out, the car still ran really ruff-this time consistently. I have checked the compresion (200 psi even on all 4).I have been told that it could be the thermo time switch or fried injectors (from the engine overheating). The car runs as if on 2 cylinders...If you know something I don't please help...THANX. hafshar@netcom.ca (6-10-97)
NEWI have an '82 GL, (EIS) no A/C, no power steering.... My steering makes two separate odd noises. One of them happens on the highway. The wheel has a bit of play in it, but I checked tie rod ends, and they're tight. Both front wheels are without rattle or movement when jacked up and shaken. I don't know the whole rack and pinion thing too well, so if someone could help me out... noise #2: Intermittent noise (maybe it will happen for a half-hour, and not again for three days). Sounds like a metal on metal rubbing sound dependant on road speed not engine speed. In fact, it only happens when I accelerate. CV joints are boots are good. I can't find anything loose anywhere, which leads me to the wheel bearings. But wouldn't it grind all the time if it were them? HELP! - toastworks@usa.net (Dave) (6-10-97)
NEWI recently bought a 88 16v. I love it are there any suggestions anyone has for me? Thanks Erich EW517@aol.com (6-10-97)
NEWI am interested in installing a VR6 motor into my 1987 Scirocco. I need guidence, info, and prices (if available). I am aware that such a modification requires brake suspension upgrades, which I too intend to perform. I await a response. Matt P. J. merlin7@pacbell.com (6-10-97)
NEWI own a Heavily modified 85 Scirocco (Techtonics 2.0L conversion with Knock sensor retrofit ,and G-grind cam ) I'm wondering whether or not installing sport valve springs in my head with give me any "real" gains what RPM will I be able to rev to safely and would it even unlock any useable horsepower since my engine is so "under square" (92.8 mm crank 83.0 mm pistons) Also , does anyone have any experience with porting thier heads and intake manifold by themselves? ie: buying a porting and polishing kit and doing it themselves? or is that sort of thing best left to the guys with the flow benches? TheDude511@aol.com thanks! (6-10-97)
NEWIgor from Russia, I have Scirocco 1,8; 78. I am tired to search for spare parts and reasons of the next breakage. I think easier to purchase the car in good condition. Any information of rather sold German automobiles is interesting to me. Only in Europe, and is not so expensive. Excuse me everyone, who has not received the answer to the letter sent to the address: estom@mail.sts.ru. (6-10-97)
